James Spooner at Duffws c1879/80. G.P. Spooner's combined bell/whistle assembly has been removed, and the absence of the operating rod for the sanders reveals that these, too, have been taken out of use. Instead there are two whistles in front of the top end spectacle plate and a pair of 'standard' cylindrical sandpots at the top end only. The livery now includes the FR garter symbol on the cabsides and the three 'Prince of Wales' feathers over the nameplates. The lubricators behind the chimneys have also changed. Behind is a rake of Mark 2a quarrymen's carriages under shelter until they are required, and in the foreground a piece of old T bulb rail lies in top of the slates, probably having been used as a 'sprag' to brake wagons having no handbrake.
