Title
Earl of Merioneth (I) arriving at Dduallt.
Earl of Merioneth (I) arriving at Dduallt, July 1968. The presence of two crew members on the fireman's side of the locomotive is unusual, given that it is coal fired. The taller of the two is John Livesey, along with perhaps Alec George. The man on the platform is Ian Gylee. His presence and that of the ladders suggests that S&T have been working in the area. The freshly cut branch stubs (conifer, top right), together with what appears to be a chainsaw on top of one of the ladders, further supports this. The train, painted in the short lived varnished livery, comprises ex-WHR Ashbury summer carriages Nos 23 & 26, followed by Bowsiders. Note the stone plinth for the triangular slate milepost on the right. In the background, the hillside is completely unspoilt. The Deviation work at Barn has only just started.
