Title
Simplex Mary Ann and the Dduallt Shuttle.
Simplex Mary Ann and the Dduallt Shuttle (otherwise known as the Dduallt Diddy) at Tan y Bwlch in July 1970. The train consists of Small Birmingham 4-wheelers Nos 2 & 3 , and the new Van No. 1 (Van 51). The set was stabled in the Tan y Bwlch bottom siding during the week but the motive power, in this case the Simplex, came up as pilot on the first service train each day. RAF and slate waggons at the far end of the siding.

Richard Herrington is the guard for the train and is stood on the Simplex chatting to a member of PW, possibly John Baggage.

The Simplex sports a yellow front panel to help make an advancing train more visible to trackside personnel. Having been fitted with a diesel engine, the radiator has been moved to the side, probably to improve air flow. The second mesh guard is over the belt drives to help protect bystanders on platforms. The silver mushroom is an oil type air inlet filter, the exhaust is directly above that curved outwards.
