Boston Lodge Top Yard, 10 March 1956. Martin Lee, a volunteer and friend of the photographer, can be seen at work. Moving clockwise around the works are the Blacksmiths Extension, Blacksmiths Shop (still with all it's chimneys), Iron Foundry, Machine Shop, Erecting Shop, Long Shed, Sawmill, Boston Lodge Cottages, Brass Foundry, and the Old Oil Store. The yard is mostly clear of the junk that was dumped here during the closure period. Palmerston remains in situ next to Blacksmiths Shop, having been previously used as a stationary boiler for the steam hammer. This shot provides a good view of the siding and turntable complex.
