The ALCo Mountaineer and Blanche with combined C & B Sets on Boston Lodge Curve, September 1973. Norman Gurley by the steps. The old company bogie carriages are Nos 23, 26, 22, 12, 11, 16, 18, 15, followed by newer barn stock. Note the toll sign on the road below, and the remains of the pill box in the foreground.

Trains of this length were not unknow at this time, especially on the days when coach parties would join the train at Tan y Bwlch. The formation would then split and come down separately.
