Title
Mountaineer and Blanche at Pen Cob with the 1969 AGM train.
Date
26/04/1969
The ALCo Mountaineer and Blanche with varnished stock at Pen Cob with the AGM train, 26 April 1969. It was chosen as Mountaineer's name day. The locomotive's new cab is yet to be fitted with spectacle plate glass. Note the Stars and Stripes, Union Jack, and French Tricolour on the front buffer beam, reflecting the locomotive's history. The flared chimney is borrowed from Linda (which was having its boiler superheated at Hunslet at the time). Note the original bell of FR England No. 3 installed on its namesake.

Anthony Massau is standing down to the left wearing a grease top hat, being Blanche's driver on the day in question. To his left wearing the flat cap is Derek Evans. In the foreground far right wearing glasses is Tom Baskcomb. Allan Garraway is driving the ALCo.
