Prince shunting at Glan y Pwll circa 1930. The locomotive still wears pre-war lined livery. The locomotive is in the yard in front of the engine shed on the New Dinas Branch. Oakeley waste tip extreme right, Nyth y Gigfran incline extreme top left. The locomotive is buffered up to, but not coupled with, one of the double balcony brake vans (Van No. 6 or 7). Tom Davies stands in the cab. Note the crude saddle tank repair and missing rain strip on the cab. The wooden framed tender has the characteristic damage to the side sheet; the angle of the split accords with the sloping wooden floor in the coal space and is probably a result of damp wood holding acidic coal dust against the side sheet.
