Boston Lodge Top Yard and Joiners Shop, 10 March 1956. Martin Lee, a volunteer and friend of the photographer, can be seen standing in the top yard near the waggon turntable. Moving clockwise around the works are the Joiners Shop, Blacksmiths Extension, Blacksmiths Shop (still with all it's chimneys), Iron Foundry, Machine Shop, Erecting Shop, Long Shed, Sawmill, Boston Lodge Cottages, Brass Foundry, and the Old Oil Store.

This is now a valuable record showing numerous details of the old railway works that have since been lost. Note the various ventilators adorning the rooftops, the outside back stairs used to access the pattern loft, and the belfry.

Behind the works is the siding serving the Joiners Shop. This was built for bogie carriages which were too large to use the waggon turntable access to the earlier joiners shop in the extension. This siding came from Glan y Mor, in front of the carriage sheds and behind the erecting shop and machine shop, this access has since been blocked off by the extended erecting shop.
