Linda on the test train to Blaenau Ffestiniog Station.
Date
23/05/1982
Linda on the test train to Blaenau Ffestiniog Station, Sunday 23 May 1982. The locomotive is passing the old Stesion Fain site. The ex-LNWR exchange yard and station are across North Western Road on the right. This significant celebratory occasion also happened to be the 150th anniversary of the FR Company's incorporation by Parliament. Services to Blaenau commenced two days later.

The driver is General Manager Allan Garraway, supposedly his last rostered turn on the railway. Alan Heywood is the guard, assisted by Roger Schofield. The carriages form the rear portion of A-Set; Prototype Tin Car No. 110, 118, aluminium No. 116, Buffet Car No. 103, 120, and Observation Car No. 101. The formation still lacks fencing on the near side. This is an impossible scene today, thanks to the overgrowth and undergrowth that has since grown up. The Mini Van parked up on the road belonged to Norman Gurley.
