Title
Porthmadog Harbour Station.
Porthmadog Harbour Station, September 1940. Granite waggon (converted from 3-ton slate) and gunpowder van (probably today's No. 152) in the platform road. Bowsider bogie carriage No. 19 in the far left siding. Note how the station nameboard has been removed in compliance with war time regulations (in case of invasion). FR platform starter semaphore signal beside the goods shed, the left hand door to which is either open or missing (it was certainly missing by the time the railway closed).

With the outbreak of war, the suspension of passenger trains, and with most slate traffic destined for the transhipment sidings at Minffordd, this station saw very little use save for shunting. Upon closure it would be packed with various items of abandoned rolling stock.
