Prince shunting at Tan y Bwlch Station in the Down loop in the cutting. Taken in 1901. The waggons seen here are a small open 1-ton waggon coupled to the locomotive, followed by a gunpowder van, larger wooden 2-ton coal waggon, and a ventilated covered goods van converted from a mk2 quarrymen's carriage (similar in construction to the Hearse). The driver in the white jacket is probably William Evans. Apparent wrong line working but may not be thus, goods trains apparently used the Down line as a matter of course. Note points heading towards goods shed with a line inspection trolley with large wheels stabled in the siding.
Source. Lens of Sutton.
Published locations. Boyd 2nd edition p208.
