Title
Hudson Toastrack carriages above Boston Lodge Halt.
Date
16/06/1942
Hudson Toastrack bogie carriages Nos 37 & 42 above Boston Lodge Halt beyond the engine shed, 16 June 1942. These were the last two surviving carriages, the other four having been reduced to flat waggons many years earlier. Note the missing canvas roofs. Upon the entire closure of the line they would be shunted over to the main works.

In the preservation era these vehicles became FR flat waggons Nos 66 & 64 respectively. No. 66 was used as the camera platform for a BBC TV live Outside Broadcast, and then rebuilt as semi-open tourist carriage No. 38. No. 64 became one of the fuel tankers, before eventually being restored to original Toastrack carriage condition at the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway.
