The Football Pitch, New Moelwyn Tunnel South, 1976. The ex-Hudson Toastrack flat waggon with the large pile of sleepers on it was the working platform for doing the weekly tunnel inspection for barring down any loose rock. It is seen here with the small locomotives Simplex Jane and Ruston & Hornsby Andrew and BEV (British Electric Vehicle) the Grogan. Tunnel Mess visible on the old line below left.
