Title
Pont Cae'r Gors looking towards Pitt's Head.
Date
01/11/1947
Pont Cae'r Gors looking towards Pitt's Head, 1 November 1947. This section of track between Hafod Ruffydd and Pitt's Head was left in situ during the main dismantling operation. The military used it for gunnery practice on moving targets by pushing waggons down the steep gradients. The pair of abandoned slate waggons in the distance are leftover from this operation, although all the track bar a short section in the cutting on the south side of Pitt's Head bridge has been lifted in this scene. The track in the cutting, being flat bottom rail, was recovered by the FR the following decade.
