Title
Mountaineer and Blanche departing Penrhyn. AGM 1969
Date
26/04/1969
The ALCo Mountaineer and Blanche with varnished stock leaving Penrhyn with the AGM train, 26 April 1969. It was chosen as Mountaineer's name day. The locomotive's new cab is yet to be fitted with spectacle plate glass. Note the Stars and Stripes, Union Jack, and French Tricolour on the front buffer beam, reflecting the locomotive's history. The flared chimney is borrowed from Linda (which was having its boiler superheated at Hunslet at the time). Note the original bell of F.R. England No.3 installed on its namesake. Blanche's driver is Anthony Massau, whilst Mountaineer is driven by Allan Garraway.

From right to left the cars waiting at the crossing are: Jaguar Mk2, Morris 850 Mini, Hillman New Minx/Hunter, Hillman Minx Mk3, Triumph 2000 Mk1.
