Title
Simplex Mary Ann shunting in Minffordd Yard.
Simplex Mary Ann shunting in Minffordd Yard, August 1955. The warning bell now mounted on the loco was from Little Wonder. The volunteers seem to have just arrived at the job since the two on the right have yet to put their lunch bags down. Arwyn Morgan is manning the Simplex whilst Fred Boughey takes charge, wearing his signature beret. The two bogie flat waggons were formerly Hudson Toastrack carriages and were already reduced to this underframe condition before the line's closure.

The standard-gauge waggon is likely loaded with wooden sleepers which will transferred onto the flat waggons (the bare frames would not have made them suitable for many other cargos). The large van looks like an ex-SR PMV (Parcels and Miscellaneous Van) or CCT (Covered Carriage Truck)
