File metadata
Merddin Emrys at Minffordd in 1931 on an Up train, including slate waggon empties. On the mineral line stands one of the double balcony brake vans, possibly with loaded slates bound for the Minffordd Yard wharfs. The 'Portmeirion' sign is in the background to the right of Merddin Emrys' cab. Clough Williams-Ellis started building the village six years previously. Note the signal capstan and crossover on the right and the access ramp to the Cambrian Coast mainline platform on the left. The fireman is G. Harry Jones. Note that at least on the top end the locomotive is running with its original power bogie.
