Ffestiniog Railway Society AGM Cambrian special 1958 arriving at Minffordd Station.
Date
26/04/1958
Ffestiniog Railway Society AGM Cambrian special arriving at Minffordd Station, Saturday 26 April 1958 at 2.47pm. The train is being hauled by double headed GWR 3200 Earl Class 4-4-0 locomotives Nos 9017 (Earl of Berkeley, now preserved) & 9021, both based at Machynlleth. This class of locomotives were heavily associated with the Cambrian, being light enough for use over Barmouth Bridge, and were universally known as Dukedogs.

This train had left Paddington behind GWR 3700 Class 3440 City of Truro (recently removed from York Museum and then in regular use between Didcot and Southampton) at 7.40am. Upon arrival at Ruabon, the two Dukedogs took over the train. The return journey left Minffordd at 11.15pm.
