Boston Lodge Bottom Yard, 30 March 1957. This photograph is a valuable record of the distinctive bridge track and waggon turntable arrangement that has since been lost to redevelopment of the yard's trackwork. The bridge section is held in place by pins, but is removable for when access is need to the cross section of railway underneath. This ran off from the turntable seen here on 3-Road onto another turntable controlling access to 1-Road behind the photographer. It then went on passed Cottages 1 & 2 towards the Top Yard. The building seen here is another lost feature, the Long Shed. Note the various sections of bullhead rail for use in points. Braked 3-ton slate waggon No. 256 has clearly received some TLC since the end of the closure period.
