Merddin Emrys at Blaenau Ffestiniog GWR Exchange station circa 1919. The locomotive shows signs of heavy use and would soon be withdrawn for a new boiler and overhaul. It is interesting to note that the locomotive is fitted (at least on the top end) with the power bogie built for LT (the unevenly spaced bolts set wide on the buffer casting is the giveaway). The driver is John Parry Jones and the fireman is a young William R. Williams. The passenger train is comprised of Brown Marshalls 4-wheeler No. 3, Brown Marshalls bogie carriage No. 15, Bowsider No. 17 or 18, and one the large Brown Marshalls vans (No. 4 or 5).
