Title
Dumped Rolling Stock at Porthmadog Harbour Station.
Date
15/07/1942
Rolling Stock dumped at Porthmadog Harbour Station, 15 July 1942. Brown Marshalls Van No. 4 (the frame of which is sagging at the near end, amongst other visible damage), Bogie Carriage No. 15, and mk3 Quarrymen's Carriage No. 8 occupy the middle road. On the right hand road is an iron 3-ton coal waggon, slate waggons, and a wooden 4-ton coal waggon. The single balcony Brake Van No. 5 can be seen in the distance, apparently on the platform road, whilst on the far right visible behind the foliage are carriages No. 16 and Bowsider No. 19. With the railway only operational for slate traffic, this part of the line effectively closed at the start of the war, although shunting and stock movement continued to take place. When the line shut down completely the coaching stock seen here was moved over to the Works. Note the carriage inspection pit on the left, and throw point lever to the right.
