Title
Palmerston near the Oakeley Wharf at Porthmadog Harbour.
Palmerston near the Oakeley Wharf at Porthmadog Harbour, May 1922. Covered goods van behind the locomotive. This is close to the FR zero point on Lombard Street, although the railway line itself continued much further along the quayside. The harbour at low tide is visible beyond, with what looks like the steam tugboat "Draig Goch" partly visible. This was the last of Port's tugs, and the only screw driven one. It was sold two years on from this scene. A sailing ship's bowsprit can be seen of the left, the vessel, almost certainly a schooner, is moored up on the quayside. The age of sail was beginning to come to an end around this time.
