Merddin Emrys being serviced at Duffws Station, 5 September 1906. The fireman is emptying ash from the bottom end smoke box whilst the driver oils the motion. Features of note include the double point levers controlling the two crossovers at the foot of the Votty & Bowydd incline and the Ashbury 4-wheelers stabled alongside the locomotive. The 3rd class vehicle is No. 11, with Nos 10 & 14 also in attendance (identifiable by the pair of central windows). Three young boys are looking down from the house above. The empty slate waggons awaiting ascendance include a 3-ton type and both wooden and iron 2-ton examples.
