James Spooner and passenger train at Duffws Station. Taken between October 1889 to December 1892 (the locomotive not yet being vacuum fitted). The locomotive has been rebuilt with a new (but poor quality) parallel boiler together with new tanks and cab. One of the large Brown Marshalls Vans (No. 4 or 5) and Bowsider carriages Nos 17 & 18 are present in the train. Ashbury 4-wheelers and mk3 quarrymen's carriages can be seen in the background. Unusual to see a passenger train departing from this position rather than the platform road behind the photographer.
