Title
LMS Blaenau Ffestiniog North Station.
Blaenau Ffestiniog North Station, 26 August 1929. From here passengers from the LMS could easily reach Stesion Fain by crossing over North Western Road to exchange with FR services, with timetabling to encourage onward travel. Note the diagonal crossover (complete with diamond switch blades) allowing access between all four standard-gauge roads without having to shunt out of the station. Pre-grouping lettering still evident on waggons. All of these vehicles were subject to the common user agreement which allowed all waggons under the 'Big Four' to move around freely over the network without the need for transfer.

The FR goods train on the raised wharf has almost certainly come from the Groby Branch, loaded with granite from the quarry, although it could also have come from Brookes (at Tunnel North). Brake Van No. 5 (formerly a mk3 quarrymen's carriage rebuilt with single balcony) and the granite waggons (converted from 3-ton slate) were specifically allocated for this traffic. The iron 2-ton coal waggons are also probably carrying ballast, although they could have been used for return coal traffic to the quarries. Granite waggon No. 40, positioned on a turntable, is ready to be end-tipped into the siding hidden by the rake of standard-gauge waggons. Just visible behind Brake Van No. 5 are a number of wooden FR coal waggons of various sizes.
