Title
Covered Goods Vans on the Long Siding at Minffordd.
Covered Goods Vans at Minffordd Long Siding circa 1933. Cleminson No. 8 had been specially converted to the corrugated iron roof seen here to transport covered goods, particularly flour from Snowdon Mill in Porthmadog to Penrhyn Bakery. The other vans seen here were heavily employed on this traffic also. That furthest away is one of the shallow arc roof with hinged end doors type. The smaller van next to it was probably unique, with an unusually high arc to the roof due to its non-extended side planks. The hinged end doors are full height. Converted from a 4-ton wooden coal waggon, it spent the closure period dumped outside the carriage sheds in Glan y Mor Yard.
