A mixed train on Pont y Gelli (the wooden viaduct) around 1877. Beneath the viaduct the railway's post & rail fence is showing signs of age and, although no work is taking place on the viaduct, the huge baulks of timber either side of the line in the foreground and lying on the hillside behind suggest that even more bracing will soon be installed.
