Title
Derelict waggons in Glan y Mor Yard outside the carriage sheds at Boston Lodge.
Derelict waggons in Glan y Mor Yard outside the carriage sheds at Boston Lodge, as seen in 1945 - 1946. The nearest covered goods van is one of the sliding side door variety. The decrepit smaller wooden van next behind is an interesting specimen. It clearly used to be a large open 4-ton waggon. However unlike other conversions, it has not had its sides raised but has had a high arc roof added by fitting angle iron hoops covered with plain galvanised sheets. Referred to as non-extended hinged end door van.

On the right can be glimpsed an iron 3-ton coal waggon and a wooden coal waggon. In the background are a pair of granite waggons (converted from 3-ton slates) and iron 2-ton coal waggon No. 18. Immediately outside the shed doors, the slate waggons at right angles to the camera are parked on the Joinery Shop road. Note how around the time of closure, the right hand carriage shed was in relatively good condition. The damage sustained from rock falls during the closure period resulted in it being dismantled.
