Title
The Peckett in Glan y Mor Carriage Shed.
Date
04/08/1958
The Peckett in the old carriage shed, Glan y Mor, 4 August 1958. Works No. 2050/44, formerly Harrogate Gas Works No. 1. This locomotive was to have been called 'Volunteer' (an unpopular and inappropriate suggestion) but soon became known by the alias 'Ffolly' as, despite being virtually brand new (the locomotive was only 14 years old at this time), it never entered traffic and remained parked in Glan y Mor Yard for thirty years until derailing during preliminary tests and being sold as a result. Note the false saddle tank section over the smokebox and the close fitting cab. Bogie Van No. 2 is on the right, fitted with old company chopper coupling and electronic lighting (note the wiring near the roof). This vehicle was in use as transport for working parties at this time.
