Merddin Emrys heads a Down train across the Cob towards Porthmadog, 8 July 1936. The train consists of Brown Marshalls Van No. 4, a pair of Bowsiders, Ashbury No. 21, Small Birmingham 4-wheeler carriages Nos 2 & 4, Curly Roofed Van No. 3, bogie carriage No. 15, and a mk3 quarrymen's carriage. The rear portion of the formation is a quarrymen's train formation. Britannia Foundry on the left, whilst in the background Minffordd Quarry rises above the train. The GPO telegraph poles across the Cob have by now been removed.
