Welsh Pony at Tan y Bwlch, probably in 1936. Station Mistress Bessie Jones exchanging staffs with fireman Tom Davies whilst driver Will Davies looks on from the tender. Both men have FR markings on their jacket collars. Will Davies is wearing a badge, possibly that of a union (Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen or National Union of Railwaymen - now RMT).
Welsh Pony has been fitted with the electric headlamp from the Baldwin Tractor which is visible on the front of the locomotive. The short goods train consists of inside bearing wooden 2-ton coal waggon No. 40, covered goods van No. 1 (mk3 quarrymen's conversion with sliding doors), and a double balcony brake van (either Van No. 6 or 7).
