Princess outside Boston Lodge Engine Shed.

Princess outside Boston Lodge Engine Shed, September 1940. Tin shed road cut back. Probably the last England in regular service by this date. Main shed roof has been changed from slates to corrugated sheets, the louvred clerestory along the ridge that provided ventilation has been lost in the process and the number of chimneys from the smoke hoods has been greatly reduced. There is a significant pile of ash & char from smokeboxes and fires on the left of the photo and the disc signal that stood by the front right hand corner of the shed has been removed.
