The ALCo Mountaineer approaching Culvert 7 Curves, 29 May 1977. Hauling Major Olver's inspection train. It consists of ex-Smiths Bocoal waggon No. 63 (piped for vacuum and fitted with gauging frame), 104, Buffet Car 103, 105, and Observation Car No. 100. The same vehicles had been used the day before on the first steam train to Llyn Ystradau. The Major and Allan Garraway has inspected the tunnel. The guard is Terry Turner, the driver is Clive Gibbard, and the fireman is Russell Burridge. Note the remains of the Moelwyn Zinc Mine incline on the hillside.
