Title
Blanche in Boston Lodge Bottom Yard.
Blanche in Boston Lodge Bottom Yard, 1971. The locomotive has been converted to oil firing and is seen here connected to Fuel Tanker No. 64 (formerly Hudson Toastrack bogie carriage No. 42) on 3-Road.

Beside the outside pit are wooden 2-ton coal waggon No. 163, ex-RAF Lichfield Hudson Bocoal No. 68 (fitted with Feldbahn bogies), and iron 3-ton coal waggon No. 166. These waggons are in place for refuelling those locomotives that at this time were still burning coal (Merddin Emrys and perhaps the ALCo Mountaineer). Within a year or so of this scene all of the main fleet were oil burners, and would remain so well into the 21st century. Note the various throw point levers and the sand drier on the left, which was fed using sand from the beach that then existed below Glan y Mor.
